CHRONOLITH

Described by the artist as "an installation focusing on the ontology of temporality", the work is a sculptural piece made of various materials, which 'navigates' through time, space and matter. The installation presents its viewers with a philosophical dialectic, in which consciousness comes to know itself in terms of 'the ephemeral' and 'the everlasting' and expresses itself in the recurrent human desire 'to be' and 'to subsist'. Its overlapping of bold sculptural form, text and light conveys a yearning for an elixir of life or portal, a time-machine connecting remote spaces, re-opening the impossible time-frames of past and future, to achieve transcendence.

This work was showcased at the Malta Maritime Museum (Vittoriosa) as part of Divergent Thinkers V, curated by Prof. Raphael Vella.
